2021 Umrah: First batch of Nigerians depart for Saudi Arabia today

About a year when the Saudi Arabia authorities suspended Umrah for International Pilgrims amid the spread of covid-19 pandemic, Nigerian pilgrims have again began the umrah rites in the holy land as 75 pilgrims left the shores of the country to Saudi Arabia today.

The media unit of the National Hajj Commission, NAHCON, Abuja gave the hint today, adding that the pilgrims departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj. The head of the Abuja outreach Umar M Kalgo confirmed the departure.

He said a total of 75 pilgrims departed Nigeria to Saudi Arabia today, 50 from from Eminista Travels and tours and 25 from Earth travels.
The development signifies the opening of Saudi airways for Nigerians after Umrah was banned in February 2020.
